British Flapjacks Recipe

Ingredients 

– 2 cups (180g) rolled oats – ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter – ½ cup (120g) light brown sugar – ¼ cup (80g) golden syrup (or light corn syrup as substitute) – ¼ teaspoon salt – Optional: ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon or a handful of raisins

In a saucepan, melt butter with brown sugar and golden syrup over low heat, stirring until the mixture is smooth.

Instructions

Remove from heat and stir in rolled oats and salt. Optional: add a pinch of cinnamon or dried fruit for variation.

Spoon the mixture into a greased 8-inch square pan. Press down firmly to ensure even baking and a chewy texture.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden and slightly crisp.

Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then cut into squares or bars. Allow to cool fully before removing from the pan.
